Certified Used Cars in Valparaiso, Indiana

Almost everything on our used lot is certified, and not only the GM vehicles. We certify through CarBravo, which unlike most manufacturer programs can certify a used Ford, Toyota or Honda the same way it certifies a used Sierra. Inspected, warranty backed, recalls completed, and exchangeable within ten days if it turns out to be the wrong vehicle.

What Certified Actually Means Here

Certified is a word a lot of lots use loosely. This is what it means on our inventory, in specifics rather than adjectives.

Ten Day Exchange

If the vehicle turns out to be wrong for you, bring it back within 10 days or 500 miles and exchange it for another CarBravo vehicle. Very few used lots anywhere offer this, and no independent lot in this market does.

Recalls Completed First

GM requires every open safety recall to be completed before a CarBravo vehicle is listed or sold. You are not buying somebody else's outstanding recall and finding out later.

Multi-Point Inspection

Every vehicle goes through a multi-point inspection by GM Certified Service technicians before it carries the certification.

Warranty Behind It

A limited warranty comes with the vehicle rather than being sold to you separately. Terms are below, and we will show you the actual document before you sign.

Certified Across Most Makes

This is the part most people do not know. CarBravo is not limited to Buick and GMC. A used F-150, Tacoma, Ridgeline or Ram taken in on trade can carry the same certification.

Service Almost Anywhere

Covered work can be handled at any of roughly 3,800 GM Certified Service centers nationwide, not only at the store you bought from.

The Two Certification Tiers

CarBravo has two levels, and the second one is the reason a fifteen year old vehicle can still be certified. Most manufacturer programs stop at five or six years.

CarBravo

The standard tier

Up to 10 model years oldUp to 100,000 miles

Newer, lower mileage inventory. This is where most of our certified stock sits, and where you will find recent Sierras, Terrains and traded trucks of other makes.

BravoBudget

The older and higher mileage tier

Up to 15 model years oldUp to 150,000 miles

This tier matters if your budget is the constraint. It means an older vehicle can still be inspected, recall cleared and warranty backed rather than sold to you as-is, which is what most lots do at that age.

Warranty Coverage

What comes with it

12 months / 12,000 miles bumper to bumper limited warranty30 days / 1,000 miles limited powertrain coverage

Eligible components covered against unexpected repairs. Ask to see the coverage document for the specific vehicle before you sign, because terms can differ by unit.

Why This Matters More on a Tight Budget

If you are financing with damaged credit, or buying at the lower end of the market, certification is worth more to you than it is to somebody spending forty thousand.

A surprise repair is how a recovering situation goes backwards. An as-is vehicle with a failed transmission three months in is not just a repair bill, it is a repair bill on top of a car payment, and it is the most common way people end up back where they started. A warranty and a completed inspection are the difference between a bad month and a bad year.

That is also why the BravoBudget tier matters. Fifteen model years and 150,000 miles is well beyond where most certified programs stop, which means the vehicles at the affordable end of our lot can carry the same inspection and coverage as the newer ones rather than being sold with a handshake.

Certified, and Not Just the GM Ones

Worth stating plainly because it is unusual. Most franchise dealerships can only certify their own brand: a Ford store certifies Fords, a Toyota store certifies Toyotas, and anything else on the lot gets sold as ordinary used inventory.

CarBravo does not work that way. It certifies across makes, so a trade-in that arrives here wearing somebody else's badge can go through the same inspection and carry the same coverage. In practice that means the used trucks and SUVs on our lot are not a GM section and an as-is section. They are one certified lot.

Trucks

Sierra and Silverado alongside F-150, Ranger, Ram 1500, Tacoma, Tundra, Frontier, Titan, Ridgeline and Gladiator.

SUVs and Crossovers

Terrain, Acadia and Enclave alongside whatever comes in on trade, from RAV4 and CR-V upward.

Cars

Sedans, hatchbacks and coupes across makes, which is where a lot of the under $20,000 inventory sits.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is every vehicle in your online inventory CarBravo certified?
Our online inventory shows vehicles across the Currie Motors group rather than only the ones standing here, and CarBravo applies to what is in stock on our lot. Call (219) 246-4505 and ask about a specific vehicle and we will tell you where it is and how it is certified.
What is CarBravo?
CarBravo is General Motors' certified used vehicle program. A CarBravo vehicle has been through a multi-point inspection by GM Certified Service technicians, has had all open safety recalls completed before being listed for sale, carries a limited warranty, and can be exchanged within 10 days or 500 miles if it is not right for you. The name is unfamiliar to most shoppers, which is why we describe these vehicles as certified used rather than by the program name. General Motors publishes its own overview of the program, which you can read on our About CarBravo page.
Can you certify a used car that is not a Buick or GMC?
Yes, and this is the part that surprises people. Most franchise dealerships can only certify their own brand, so a Ford store certifies Fords and everything else on the lot is sold as ordinary used stock. CarBravo certifies across makes, so a used F-150, Tacoma, Ridgeline, Ram or RAV4 taken in on trade here can carry the same inspection and coverage as a used Sierra. Ask which specific vehicles on the lot are certified when you call on (219) 246-4505.
What is the difference between CarBravo and BravoBudget?
They are two tiers of the same program, separated by age and mileage. CarBravo covers vehicles up to 10 model years old and 100,000 miles. BravoBudget extends to 15 model years and 150,000 miles. The second tier matters because most manufacturer certified programs stop at around five or six years, which means older and higher mileage vehicles usually get sold as-is. Under BravoBudget they can still be inspected, recall cleared and warranty backed.
What warranty comes with a certified used vehicle?
A 12 month or 12,000 mile bumper to bumper limited warranty covering eligible components, plus 30 day or 1,000 mile limited powertrain coverage. Covered work can be carried out at roughly 3,800 GM Certified Service centers nationwide, not only where you bought the vehicle. Terms can differ by unit, so ask to see the coverage document for the specific vehicle before you sign. Add-on protection plans are available separately.
Can I return a certified used car if it is not right?
You can exchange it. Within 10 days or 500 miles, whichever comes first, a CarBravo vehicle can be exchanged for another CarBravo vehicle. That is an exchange rather than a refund, and conditions apply, so ask us to walk through exactly how it works before you buy. Very few used vehicle sellers offer anything comparable and no independent lot in this market does.
Are the recalls done before I buy it?
Yes. GM requires dealers to complete all open safety recalls before a CarBravo vehicle is listed or sold. GM also recommends checking recall status independently through your GM account or the NHTSA website, which is sensible advice for any used vehicle from any seller, and we will help you do it if you want to see for yourself.
Is a certified used car worth it if my credit is damaged?
Arguably it matters more, not less. If money is tight, a surprise repair is the thing most likely to undo the progress a car loan is making on your credit file: a failed transmission on top of a payment is how people end up back where they started. A completed inspection and a warranty reduce that risk. The BravoBudget tier is specifically why an affordable older vehicle here can still carry coverage. See our credit financing page, where we work with more than thirty lenders.
Where can I see your certified used inventory?
Browse our used inventory or the under $20,000 selection. Certification is per vehicle rather than automatic across the lot, so call (219) 246-4505 and ask about the specific unit and which tier it falls under before making the trip. We are at 1551 W. US Highway 30 in Valparaiso, open until 9 PM Monday through Friday and until 7 PM on Saturday.

Ask Which Ones Are Certified

Certification is per vehicle. Call before you drive over and we will tell you what is on the ground, which tier it falls under, and what the coverage actually says.

Our online inventory shows vehicles across the Currie Motors group, not only the ones standing here. CarBravo certification applies to what is in stock on our lot, and it is the program that can certify any make rather than only its own. Call (219) 246-4505 and we will tell you what is physically here and how it is certified. Certification tiers, warranty terms and exchange conditions vary by vehicle; ask to see the coverage document before you sign.
