Used Trucks for Sale in Northwest Indiana

Used Sierra and Silverado, and used F-150, Ram 1500, Tacoma and Tundra alongside them. We take trades from every brand, and almost everything on the lot is certified through a program that is not limited to GM vehicles. So a used F-150 here can be inspected, recall cleared and warranty backed the same way a used Sierra is.

A GMC Lot That Is Full of Other People's Trucks

People assume a Buick GMC dealership sells used Sierras and not much else. In practice most of what arrives here on trade wears somebody else's badge, because that is what people in this part of Indiana are driving when they come in.

The part that is genuinely unusual is what happens to those trucks afterwards. Most franchise dealerships can only certify their own brand: a Ford store certifies Fords, and anything else on the lot gets sold as ordinary used stock with no inspection standard behind it. We certify through CarBravo, which is General Motors' certified program and which is not limited to GM vehicles. A used F-150 taken in on trade here can go through the same inspection and carry the same coverage as a used Sierra.

Certified Means Something Specific

Multi-point inspection, every open safety recall completed before the truck is listed, a limited warranty, and a 10 day or 500 mile exchange if it turns out to be wrong. What certified covers →

Two Tiers, Not One

The standard tier covers trucks up to 10 model years and 100,000 miles. A second tier reaches 15 years and 150,000, which is well past where most certified programs stop and is why an older work truck here can still carry coverage.

Every Brand on the Lot

Sierra and Silverado, F-150 and Ranger, Ram 1500, Tacoma and Tundra, Frontier, Titan, Ridgeline, Gladiator. What we have depends on what came in last week, so call before you drive over.

A Carfax on Every Vehicle

Free, on everything we sell, whether it is certified or not. You should not have to ask for a history report or pay for one, and if a seller is reluctant to hand one over that tells you something. One-owner vehicles →

Financing Across Thirty Lenders

Past repossession, bankruptcy, thin file or no credit history. Work trucks are frequently bought by people whose credit has taken a knock, and that is a conversation we have every day. Credit financing →

What to Look At, Depending on the Job

Half-ton, heavy duty or midsize is usually the first decision, and getting it wrong is expensive in both directions.

Half-Ton

Sierra 1500 · Silverado · F-150 · Ram 1500

The default for most people. Tows a boat or a mid-size trailer, hauls what a weekend needs, and lives comfortably as a daily driver. If you are towing under about eight thousand pounds this is usually the right answer.

Browse used trucks →

Heavy Duty

2500 · 3500 · gooseneck and fifth wheel

For equipment, gooseneck trailers and the work a half-ton is not rated for. Plenty of these around the steel corridor and the trades. They cost more to run, so buy one because you need it rather than because it looks capable.

New Sierra HD →

Midsize

Canyon · Colorado · Ranger · Tacoma

Easier to park, cheaper to run, and enough truck for most homeowners. Worth considering seriously if the trailer only comes out a few times a year.

Under $20,000

Older, higher mileage, still covered

This is where the second certification tier matters. An older truck with real miles on it can still be inspected and warranty backed rather than sold as-is, which is not true at most lots at that price.

What to Check on Any Used Truck in This Part of Indiana

Worth knowing whether you buy from us or not.

Frame and Underbody

Road salt is the defining fact of a Northwest Indiana vehicle. Surface rust is normal and largely cosmetic. Flaking, scaling or perforation on the frame rails and brake lines is not. Get any used truck on a lift before you buy it, anywhere.

Whether It Actually Towed

A hitch does not mean much. Look at transmission service history, rear suspension sag and wear on the receiver. A truck that towed heavy for years is not disqualified, but it should be priced for it.

Bed and Frame Alignment

Panel gaps that do not match side to side, or a bed sitting slightly off square, usually mean something happened. Sometimes minor, sometimes not.

The History Report

Accidents, title branding, odometer discrepancies, number of owners and service records. We give you the Carfax on every vehicle without being asked. Read the service history as carefully as the accident section, because a truck with no records for eighty thousand miles is its own kind of warning.

Open Recalls

Check the VIN yourself at nhtsa.gov, on any truck from any seller. On a certified vehicle here the recalls have already been completed before listing, but you should never take that on trust from anybody.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is every vehicle in your online inventory CarBravo certified?
Our online inventory shows vehicles across the Currie Motors group rather than only the ones standing here, and CarBravo applies to what is in stock on our lot. Call (219) 246-4505 and ask about a specific vehicle and we will tell you where it is and how it is certified.
Where can I buy a used truck in Northwest Indiana?
Currie Motors Buick GMC is at 1551 W. US Highway 30 in Valparaiso, on US-30 which crosses the width of Northwest Indiana. Our used truck inventory covers every make rather than GM alone, and almost all of it is certified. Browse used inventory and call (219) 246-4505 to confirm what is physically on the ground, because truck stock turns over quickly.
Do you sell used trucks that are not GMC or Chevrolet?
Yes, regularly. F-150, Ranger, Ram 1500, Tacoma, Tundra, Frontier, Titan, Ridgeline and Gladiator all come in on trade, and we sell them rather than sending them to auction. What is on the lot at any moment depends on what arrived recently, so call to check before traveling.
Can a used Ford or Toyota truck be certified at a GMC dealership?
At most dealerships, no. Manufacturer certified programs are usually limited to the manufacturer's own brand, so a used F-150 on a GMC lot would ordinarily be sold as plain used stock. We certify through CarBravo, General Motors' certified used vehicle program, which is not limited to GM vehicles. That means a used F-150 or Tacoma here can carry the same multi-point inspection, completed recalls, limited warranty and 10 day exchange as a used Sierra. See what certification covers.
Do you provide a Carfax report?
Yes, free, on every vehicle we sell, certified or not. You should not have to ask for a vehicle history report or pay for one, and a seller who is reluctant to produce one is telling you something worth listening to. Read the service history section as closely as the accident section: a truck with no service records for eighty thousand miles is its own kind of warning, even with a clean accident history. We also keep a list of one-owner vehicles, which tend to come with better records.
What should I check on a used truck in Northwest Indiana?
The frame, before anything else. Road salt is the defining problem for vehicles in this region, and surface rust is normal while flaking or perforated frame rails and corroded brake lines are not. Get it on a lift. Beyond that, check whether it genuinely towed by looking at transmission service history and rear suspension, look at panel and bed alignment for signs of a repair, and check the VIN for open recalls at nhtsa.gov regardless of who is selling it. We provide a free Carfax on every vehicle, so the history side is covered before you ask.
Should I buy a half-ton, a heavy duty or a midsize?
If you tow under roughly eight thousand pounds, a half-ton like a Sierra 1500, Silverado, F-150 or Ram 1500 is usually right and cheaper to run. Heavy duty makes sense for gooseneck and fifth wheel trailers or equipment, but you pay for it daily in fuel and tires whether you use the capability or not. Midsize trucks like Canyon, Colorado, Ranger or Tacoma are worth serious consideration if the trailer comes out a few times a year. Tell us what you actually tow and we will point you at the right one.
Do you have used trucks under $20,000?
Usually, though stock varies. This is where the extended certification tier matters: it covers vehicles up to 15 model years and 150,000 miles, well past where most certified programs stop, so an older truck at that price can still be inspected and warranty backed rather than sold as-is. See the under $20,000 selection and call to check what is on the lot.
Can I finance a used truck with bad credit?
We submit applications to more than thirty banks and lenders, a number of which specialize in credit challenges, covering past repossession, discharged bankruptcy, collections and thin credit files. Down payment requirements vary genuinely, from nothing down to around $500 or more depending on the application. No approval is guaranteed and nobody honest would promise one before seeing your file. See our credit financing page.
Will you take my old truck in trade?
Any make and any condition, including high mileage, mechanical faults and trucks you still owe money on. If you want to sell it without buying anything from us, we do that too. See value your trade or sell your car outright.
